Dear Aurora Review,
I wanted to introduce you to a conceptual art project that is
connecting an entire country through art. The Nomadic Project is
completely self-funded and unique. It may serve as an interesting
topic for fellow readers of The Aurora Review.
I am a painter working with symbolism to combine personal experience
to historical events. After spending about a week in a state (visiting
small towns, big cities, national parks, etc.), I paint a canvas in
response to my experience there. That painting is then displayed in a
gallery located in the next state. By pulling inspiration from one
state and sharing it with a neighboring state, borders are blurred
like a pencil smudge.
Twenty-one states have been connected in this manner. Alfonso Llamas
is a musician and also my husband. Throughout this process, he is
recording the journey through video documentary and his original
music. All of our work will be united in a four-dimensional traveling
exhibit in 2008.
I have included a link to our website where viewers follow our
journey, along with a video trailer for the documentary, participating
galleries, and recent press.
http://www.TheNomadicProject.com. All of
the paintings (completed so far) and their descriptions can be viewed
there, however I did attach three .jpg images for your convenience. I
truly appreciate your time and encourage you to contact me with any
questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Kristin Abraham
